George Pastell was a Cypriot character actor in British films and television programs. His real name was Nino Pastellides.
He made his film debut in Give Us This Day (1949), under his real name of Nino Pastellides, and went on to carve out a career as villains in film and television. Although Greek, he was often cast by Hammer Film Productions as Eastern characters such as Mehemet Bey in The Mummy (1959), the High Priest of Kali in The Stranglers of Bombay (1959), and Hashmi Bey in The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb (1964).
His exotic looks often saw him cast in spy movies of the sixties such as From Russia with Love (1963), The 2nd Best Secret Agent in the Whole Wide World (1965), A Man Could Get Killed (1966), That Riviera Touch (1966), and Deadlier Than the Male (1967).
As well as these film roles he could also be seen as the villain in numerous television series of the sixties including Danger Man (1960), The Avengers (1961), Doctor Who (1963), The Champions (1968), The Saint (1962), and Department S (1969).
Pastellides was most prolific, however, in his voice-over work, replacing hundreds of other actors' voices (some of them very famous) in films as disparate as El Cid (1961) as "Fañez", You Only Live Twice (1967) as "Tiger Tanaka, and Doctor Zhivago (1965) as "The Girl's (the character played by Rita Tushingham) boyfriend", earning him the sobriquet "the 'Paul Frees (I)' of Britain."- Music Department

Brooklyn-born composer and orchestrator, who graduated from New York University at the age of eighteen. A child prodigy, he was already an accomplished pianist at the age of five and began composing music three years later. His first serious work ('Paeans') was performed in public when he was seventeen, conducted by the great Bernard Herrmann. Other orchestral compositions included 'Those Everlasting Blues' (1932) and 'Beguine' (1934), notable for his usage of traditional American folk idioms.
He wrote for many Broadway shows from 1935, beginning with 'Parade'. Moross also composed five ballets, of which 'Frankie and Johnny' (1938,for dancer Ruth Page) and 'The Golden Apple' (1954) were the most successful. The latter won the Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, 1953-4. Moross worked in Hollywood from 1940 as composer/arranger, often in collaboration with Aaron Copland (eg. Our Town (1940)), Hugo Friedhofer and Franz Waxman. His own scores as film composer include The Proud Rebel (1958), The War Lord (1965) and Rachel, Rachel (1968). He was nominated for an Academy Award for his lush, sweeping score of The Big Country (1958). In addition to his film work, he was also active in composing music for television, his best work in the western series Gunsmoke (1955) and Wagon Train (1957). He created eight pieces of chamber music, 1964-78, and, his final work, the one-act opera 'Sorry, Wrong Number', based on Lucille Fletcher's famous thriller. Jerome Moross received Guggenheim Fellowships in 1947 and 1948.- Ric Applewhite was born on 17 October 1896 in Wilson County, North Carolina, USA. - Born Karl Tanzler in Dresden, Germany he abandoned his wife and children in 1927 to move to Key West, Florida, where he changed his name to Carl Von Cosel and added "Count" to his title. He also claimed to have had 19 different degrees though none were substantiated. Von Cosel worked for several years in a hospital that was full of patients sick and dying from tuberculosis (which was then incurable). In 1933 one of his patients was 22 year old Elena Hoyos whom fell in love with Elena and did everything he could to try and save her. But there was nothing he could do and she passed away. Not long after her funeral Von Cosel got permission from her family to place Elena's body in a casket full of formaldehyde. His daily visits to her crypt began to make people take notice. Then one day Dr. Von Cosel stopped coming by many assumed that he had died. That was until he turned up in another part of town, having moved and bought a small house near the sea. Keeping to himself, Von Cosel lived a private life for years and neighbors only saw him when he went back and forth with large packages. They also said that they could hear him singing and playing his organ late into the night. Elena's sister grew suspicious and sought out Von Cosel when the cemetery reported that her casket was missing. Confronting the doctor at his house she demanded to know what happened to her sister and Von Cosel showed him, the body was upstairs in his bed. He was arrested and given a psychological evaluation but because the statute of limitations on molesting a grave was only two years (this was seven years later) no charges could be filed against him. In 1972 it was made public that Von Cosel had stolen Elena's body and taken it home where he treated it with oil and wax and attempted to rebuild her body as it decomposed, even giving her glass eyes and making her a wig out of her hair. He had made a puppet-like death mask of Elena to preserve her beauty. Von Cosel was released when he was found to be sane but to this day still remains a curiosity. Elena's body was buried and encased in cement in an undisclosed, unmarked grave where Von Cosel couldn't find her again. The death mask was put on display in a local museum when the case became local folklore. It was stolen some time later and turned up in 1952 on the floor of Von Cosel's home lying next to his dead body.

- Hervey Allen was born in 1889, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He didn't finish high school, but instead went off to fight in World War I. 'Action at Aqulia' and 'Toward the flame' (which has recently been reprinted) are two of his books of his experiences in (or about) WWI. He later finished his education and became a Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh, where he met Annette Andrews (at the time his student). After Annette graduated they were married. This was considered a great scandal because of their previous relationship as teacher and student and because Annette was 19 years his junior. They moved to Bermuda to escape scrutiny.
Living off money from Annette's parents, they lived in Felicity Hall, Bermuda, where their three children were born. Anthony Adverse was then released in 1929 (about the time of the stock market crash) and the Allens suddenly found themselves rich. They then lived in Cazinovia, New York for awhile before buying Bonfield in Maryland. Finally the family settled in Miami, Florida, right next door to Robert Frost. Sadly, in 1949, Hervey Allen died suddenly of a heart attack while in the shower and was later discovered by his wife. For his services in the war he was buried in Arlington National Cemetary. - Actor
